Tick tick tick tick...

Hello Blogland!

I forgot to blog, would you believe it!? The little part of my brain that does the blogging must have got confused.

So, what's been going on? Erm, I have 80% of my crimbo shopping done, that's pretty good news. Started wrapping yesterday, or should I say Harriet did. Just need pressies for mum & Harriet and I'm done. Actually, when you take into consideration that I only buy for mum, Harriet and Harry Jnr I'm only 33.3% done.

Hambo is still alive... just! He made a bid for freedom on Saturday. He was running about in his ball and I got a bit over-confident. I took the top off the ball and let him run up my stomach. he was ok for a couple of minutes... but then decided to launch himself over the top of the sofa in his version of The Great Escape. I just managed to grap him.

I bought I new wall clock yesterday. For the last 4'ish years I've had a Moe clock (The Simpsons). I ticks really loudly, but I've always managed to put up with it. Recently though I've been struggling to sleep and it doesn't help when your ears ick up on the ticking. It sounds like someone banging a tin drum as hard as they can. All it takes is to hear one single tick and then I'm done for, I hear every single tick getting louder and louder until I have to get up and move the clock into another room. So yesterday I went to Argos and bought a digital wall clock. Peace at last.

Incidently, the doctor prescribed sleeping tablets to see if it made a difference. I took 2 on Friday night and woke up and lunch time on Saturday. Excellent!

Two In A Row

Morning all

Not since Coronation St started showing 5 times a week have we seen such excitement at the news of me posting 2 days in a row!

As I mentioned I went to the pub last night to watch the Sunderland match. My head hurts. I need more sleep. The office is so warm this morning for some reason, I could just drop off...I'm yawning as I type this.

Think I'll go to the pub again tonight, for a change.

A friend of mine flies to Thailand on Sunday for 3 weeks. I can't say I'm not jealous. I am. Very. It's his last holiday of the year, he needs time to prepare for his trip across America in March, starting in Hawaii and ending in Miami (meeting his daughter for the US leg of her 'round the world' trip... I am indeed very jealous! I wish I was retired... )

Check out Carrie Underwood. She won the American Pop Idol a few years back. I have quite an ear for country rock and for a reality show winner she is very very good. Her first album Some Hearts was excellent, as is her new release, Carnival Ride.

Follow the firework code!

Evening all

Wasn't quite the result we all wanted on Saturday but boy, what a cracking match it was. Arsenal came from behind twice to get a well earned draw. I watched the match in the local, it was a 12:45 tee off and consequently I didn't make Saturday night. I was supposed to be at a wedding but I'm not used to afternoon drinking and I ran out of steam...

Harriet had a day off on Sunday and that ruined my usual day. For the last 3 years or so Harriet has worked Saturday to Wednesday and so with me having a normal Monday to Friday job, we normally had 2 days each to ourselves. BUT, in two or three weeks, Harriet is moving to a Monday to Friday shift and Sunday was my first taste of having to share my weekend. And boy was I not impressed!

Normally my Saturday and Sunday schedule is

07:00 - Wake up
07:10 - Take Harriet to work
08:00 - Asda
09:00 - Home to watch WWE, eat breakfast & read morning papers
11:00 - Watch more cable tv / do the odd bit of house work / play on laptop
15:30 - Pick Harriet up from work
15:50 - Back home, Harriet goes to bed, I do more cable tv / Laptop stuff

So you can see, having spent Sunday trailing around town, in and out of every single shop, I wasn't too happy.

Off to watch Sunderland play Man City in the local...

I'm Not Dead!

Hello

Not very reliable at this posting lark am I...

My excuses this week are work (as usual) and I've had my Harry Jnr staying with me since last Friday.

The trip to Manchester last Friday was just about bearable, it took me about 3 1/2 hours to get there, but there was a crash on the eastbound side just before the Leeds turn off on my way back which had me stationary for half an hour. I was near the front, about 8 cars back, but I just couldn't quite see what was going on, very frustrating. There must have been a dozen police cars though as well as an ambulance...

We did the usual stuff while he was here... beach, wacky warehouse, Halloween party and a fireworks display in the back garden.

Travelled to Manchester and back again last night, the traffic was a little quieter than a Friday and there were no crashes!

The Arse won there Carling Cup game 0 - 3 in midweek against Shef Utd. It was good to see the young ones performing with the same style as the first team...

Tomorrow is a crucial game, away to Man Utd. A mouth watering top of the table clash if you please. It's live on SS1 if you're interested, tee off is 12:45.

I hadn't had a pint all week while Jnr's been here so I called straight to the local when i got back last night. And it tasted horrible?! I hope my taste buds recover in time for tonight.
